In addition to working in the outdoor and creative industries, he completed his Master of Science in Art Management, concentrating in Photography, Marketing, and Design, from the University of Oregon.

​

Before devoting time to his current position, he completed graduate school and worked for thirteen years in the Ski and Bicycle Industries.  During this time he served as a Marketing and Project Manager for several companies, including Northstar California Resort, Mt Bachelor, and Boreal/Woodward Tahoe.

Growing up in the mountains of North Carolina, Hames quickly gained a passion for the outdoors at a young age.  Choosing to have easy access to the outdoors, he received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Appalachian State University.  Upon completion, he ventured westward to Lake Tahoe, where he began his ski industry career, briefly skiing professionally, and becoming an accomplished backcountry skier. Also, an accomplished downhill mountain biker, he has podiums and won several races in the Cat I and Pro categories of races throughout the United States.  These passions are seen throughout his work, where he frequently is assigned to shoot adventure and action sports.
